Parallels can be drawn to connect creativity to major mental disorders including: bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, anxiety disorder, and ADHD. There are cases that support the idea that mental illness can aid in creativity, but there is also strong support that mental illness does not have to be present for creativity to exist. Whether or not the creativity is the result of mental illness or just a God given gift, the act of painting can calm my soul and remove me from lifes trap. Bipolar disorder seems to trap me in its wicked grasp. Spending time inside a painting can remove those ties and provide some peace.
The images that are painted have some meaning in my life. Some are painted to provide a level of peacefulness in my life, while others have a dark undertone that maybe only I can feel and see. Painting provides a relief from the darker dimensions of life for me.
To reach the levels of art that is meaningful and percise only the highest quality papers, pastels and paints are used. All framed artwork is archival quality meaning it will not break down or damage the artwork over time. Fine quality artwork should not be placed in direct sunlight.
